State of the Building

Dorothy painting railings

Rob Ashler and his woodworking class at Wishkah school are building new railings that will replace the rotten ones on the front and office porches, aided by his wife, Dorothy.

Ugh! Pests have returned to the kitchen. Please remember when you use the kitchen to take out the garbage when you’re finished, and to be sure all food is in airtight containers.

During the school year the Aberdeen HS Life Skills class vacuums our sanctuary. But during the summer we need people to take over that work. Will Sharpe will do it for the 3rd Sunday of the month. Is anyone available to do it on the other Sundays? Please contact Merry Jo at 360-789-7549 to volunteer.

In an effort to make it more convenient for volunteers to work on the church gardens and grounds, the Building and Grounds committee has received approval from the vestry to construct a concrete flooring platform and to purchase a garden shed to house the church’s gardening tools. It will be located inside the fence on the north side of the garden by the handicap parking. We are developing a list of tools that will go into the shed so that people coming to work on the gardens will have what they need easily at hand. We will also be soliciting bids to renew our out of shape lawn.

Garden (Work) Party

Another garden work party is scheduled for Saturday, July 20th from 9 am to 11 am, so bring your favorite gloves to help clean and spruce up the grounds! Bringing weeding and pruning tools is also recommended.

Holy Hikes

St Andrew’s will be hosting a Holy Hike led by Will Mayes on August 10th at Makarenko Park in Cosmopolis. The hike will begin at 11 am and the mile-long trail is well-maintained and accessible for both strollers and wheelchairs. Along the way will be stops for prayer, worship, and the appreciation of Creation, with a light lunch to follow.

A Call for Coffee Hour Hosts

We are in need of coffee hour hosts for several upcoming Sundays: July 21st, July 28th, and August 18th. If you are interested in filling in any of the gaps, the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board across from the kitchen.

Recent Passings

On a more somber note, in the past month we have lost the Right Reverend Vincent Werner, former parishioner Harry Roumell, and the former assisting bishop of the Diocese of Olympian, the Right Reverend Sanford S. K. Hampton. Please keep their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to:

  • Dorothy, Rob, and the Wishkah school woodworking students.
  • Our lectors for bringing the readings to life
  • Our ushers for their warm and friendly greetings each service.

Prayer for Remembrance, from the Reform Judaism Prayerbook

In the rising of the sun, and in its going down, we remember them.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer, we remember them.

In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them.

When we are lost and sick at heart, we remember them.

When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them.

So long as we live, they, too, shall live,

for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
