January–February
Ash Wednesday Service
Ash Wednesday is February 14th. Eucharist will be celebrated at 12:05 pm (noon) and 5:30 pm. This day is the solemn beginning of Lent. We are returning to offering two services to make it easier to attend.
Angel Tree Thanks
We have received a letter of thanks for our part in the Angel tree program:
It is with pleasure and gratitude to report we received $3,020 from six area churches this year.
There were 38 requests made by the inmates so each visa gift card was for $70. The number of requests were down this year from previous years. The card fees and postage amounted to $360.
I’m grateful for your participation of $200. It’s wonderful to connect the inmate with their child, especially at Christmas.
Sincerely,
Chaplain Roger Nedrow
Donation to the Grays Harbor Music Teacher’s Association
We also received a letter of thanks for our donation to a local scholarship fund:
Dear St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Thank you for your donation of $200 to the Marianna Stensager Scholarship Fund. Thanks to you, select Grays Garbor and Willapa Harbor music students will receive financial assistance with their college music education. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Annual Meeting
Sunday, February 11th is our annual meeting. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting and light lunch that will follow the service.
AED Classes
Sunday March 17th, Rob Ashler will have a class on how to use the AED machine after the service for all who are interested.
Twelfth Night Success
The traditional Twelfth Night Dinner was a great success, featuring a Service of Light for Epiphany, followed by an excellent feast, which was enjoyed by over 60 people. Many thanks to Bette Worth and her crew (listed below) for a lovely night.
Losses in the Church
Two of our members have departed this life recently: Eveline Shaw on January 19th and Morris Rasciner on January 20th. A service for Eveline will be celebrated in the church on February 17th at 11 am. Services for Morris will be held in California.
Lenten Book Study
Fr Don is inviting you to come on Thursday afternoons in Lent to study “I, Julian”, a book about St. Julian of Norwich. This book by Claire Gilbert sets the teachings of Dame Julian in the context of her time. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for those interested. Our first meeting will be on February 8th at 3:30 pm.
Pizza & Plans
You are invited to come to a pizza dinner on Thursday, February 22nd at 5:30 pm. The theme of this meeting is planning for programs for youth and children. Bring ideas, and help get activities launched!
Church Family Nights
We will be resuming Church Family Nights, the dates for which can be found at the end of the newsletter. We will begin at 5:30 pm with an informal Eucharist in the Church, followed by a potluck and a class. The evening will end by 7:30 pm. We will need volunteers to sign up for set up and clean up. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Please help us with this addition to our spiritual life as a parish.
