The St. Andrews Guild’s Victorian Tea will be held Saturday, April 20th from 2–4 pm. Sign up sheets for those who wish to help with the event will be available closer to time.
Presentation from Olive Grove
Sunday, April 28th, Teresa Snow, from Olive Crest will be here after service to share. Olive Crest is a faith-based Child Placement Organization here in Western Washington. It is Olive Crest’s hope to end child abuse by strengthening the family. Being faith based, Olive Crest is able to shine the light of God’s love on the otherwise dark world of Foster Care.
Eucharistic Visitor and Eucharistic Minister Training
Sue Tait will be coming from the Diocese for Eucharistic Visitor and Eucharistic Minister Training
April 13th, starting at 9 am. Each training session will take around 2 hours. A sign up sheet will be available on the bulletin board by the kitchen, or you can call the office.
Youth Group
St Andrew’s Youth Group is planning their next meeting for Sunday April 14th, from 12-2 pm
State of the Building
The Red Door Project (see below) was approved by the Vestry, and Luis from Innovation Painting NW has started on the front sanctuary doors. There’s still time to contribute to that project or sign up to fund a door. March 16 saw some of the Building and Grounds group as well as Nancy Olsen and Gerhard Schmidtke working in the gardens. Eric Kohl has been working on getting the lawn back in shape after a dark and rainy winter. The light was out on the steeple cross so Star Electric came and changed out the bulbs and repaired one of the fixtures. Upcoming projects we’re looking at include rebuilding the railings on the front and office porches, placing the 2 stained glass windows currently stored in the attic, (watch for templates in Giles Hall), designing and building an ADA accessible restroom, and pressure washing and painting the outside stairwell.
Thank you to St. Andrews people who have pledged to help with maintenance projects, and thank you to the people who support the upkeep of our building and grounds. This makes our work much easier! Building and Grounds Committee members are Chris Hyde, Colin McAfee, Eric Kohl, Alice Bertram, Merry Jo Zimmer, Ronnie Enstrom, Nancy Olsen, Gerhard Schmidtke, and Suzanne Hierholzer.
The Red Door Project
The vestry has approved a contract to paint all the outside red doors and to repaint the inside of the G Street doors. So far we have had 5 out of 11 of the doors pledged. There is a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall to pledge to pay for one of the remaining doors. Here is the list so far:
2 Sanctuary doors $1,500 Betty Paulsen
1 Office door $500 Mert Turner
2 G Street doors $1,000 Suzanne Hierholzer
2 G St. inside doors $300 Joann & Bob Andrews and others
1 Kitchen door $350 Karla Powell
1 old ramp door $350 Alan & Sue Marrs
1 breezeway door $350 Annette & Donn Pinckney
1 upstairs door $350 Alice & Gunter Bertram
If you prefer not to pledge an entire door, you are welcome to donate to the project. For information and questions please contact Betty Paulsen or
Merry Jo Zimmer.
Thank you to:
- Doug Z and Ron E, for welcoming our guests by finding them seating and lending them bulletins for the service.
- Our search committee, for their continued search for a new rector
- The office elves for all of their help keeping the mail going out smoothly and cleaning up the rector’s office
- Everyone who donated flowers to make the church beautiful for Easter
